Post week 14 Record Update!!!

I went 2-1 with my plays yesterday and the computer was roughly .500 (7-8). I will be back with some NBA plays tonight, but can you believe all this value for DFS purposes?!

For tonight I am taking Seattle -3. Seattle is playing so well and the Vikings are not as good as they were last year. Kirk Cousins on the road against a resurgent Seattle defense and I only have to lay three?! IN! I will for sure have some NBA wagers later tonight, but I am waiting on some injury information. The Celtics have basically ruled out half their team tonight. For DFS purposes I am playing three or more Celtics in every lineup. Give me all the Rozier, Theis, Brown and Smart!!! Despite key players being out, the Celtics are still favored over the Pelicans. Wait, what? Make sure you follow us on Instagram for our NBA wagers!

My Wife’s Shows I Secretly Like #Dadlife #Parentlife #VanderpumpRules

I watch a lot of sports. A lot. I play tons of fantasy sports and obviously gamble, so it would make sense I spend days watching the NFL on Redzone, or watching NBA on League Pass. Once you get married and have children one of you could go to another room, or watch another television. However, I like to do this crazy thing called hanging out with my wife. We enjoy spending time together, watching TV and movies together and talking about our days. (If you have young children you know none of this can actually happen until the kids are asleep. I have talked about how god awful bed time can truly be before)

In my house we have effectively negotiated how we rotate the main television in our living room.
Sunday
Steelers and Redzone Channel from 1 PM until 7:30 PM.
Bravo or my wife picks after that. I can watch the Sunday night game or WWE events on the iPad without the sound on. Major WWE events go on the main TV.

Monday
WWE/Monday Night Football 8-9
Once 9 PM hits my wife takes over and I move to the iPad.

Tuesday – Friday
My wife has control and we try to find shows we both like, or she watches her shows. I will happily watch NBA games on the iPad.

Saturday
We will watch Pitt Football as we are both Pitt grad’s, then maybe a movie.

I am sure many single men out there are thinking how is this fair? My wife gets a lot more days choosing what is on the main television. I would disagree. I think getting to watch football all day on Sunday is more valuable than anything else. Besides, marriage is all about compromise. Every game cannot be “THE GAME.” At this point there are varying levels of importance and many more ways to watch. To me spending time with my wife is more important than watching random games of teams I don’t care much about. If my wife will hang out and watch Redzone for hours every Sunday, I can do the same during the week. This blog is not about how we divide our TV though. It’s about the shows my wife watches I secretly like. This is not a complete list, nor is it Bravo only. (Although it may seem that way) Bravo even sells a shirt that say “Real Men Watch Bravo.” I would 100% wear that shirt.

Shows I Secretly Like

  1. Vanderpump Rules
Did you watch The Hills? Do you miss The Hills? This show is amazing and is a slightly better, yet trashier version of The Hills. This show has immortal lines like “IT’S NOT ABOUT THE PASTA!” I can’t even put into words how much I enjoy this show. I feel like it has been on for 10 years and I enjoy watching it every week. Jax Taylor is a top ten reality star of all time. I am not kidding. I have no idea how he has money, where it comes from and how he became this dumb and 40 years old. I just know he needs to be on my TV.
  2. Top Chef
I like to watch this while we eat, because the show makes me hungry. I don’t like when they cook weird things. Some seasons are better than others and I think the location and personalities make this show.
  3. The Real Housewives of Orange County
This is the OG of the housewives franchise and I swear Vicki (What a terrible miserable person she is.) has been in my life longer than my children. These are legit some of the worst people in the world and even included someone faking cancer. Seriously. Vanderpump is the only show I am excited about and the rest of these I can fall asleep while they are on.
  4. The Real Housewives of Atlanta
Is NeNe still on the show? I think this show has made more people famous, but I can’t recall any good moments at the time. I know the one girl wrote the song “No Scrubs,” and one person said they were “Gone with the Wind fabulous.” I really like that line.
  5. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
This should arguably be higher in the housewives ranking lists. Lisa Vanderpump has become a brand of her own. This show has actual wives that were or are in Hollywood at some point. This show features a women named Dorit, one of the children from the original Halloween movie and at one point Kelsey Grammar’s wife. Kelsey Grammar cheated on his wife then divorced here, I think while she was getting cancer treatment. Super Guy. Dorit’s husband is Boy George’s manager and Boy George lives with them. Is there one person that has ever heard an Erika Jayne song?
  6. Million Dollar Listing NYC
I have no idea why I like this show, but I hate the newest agent. He seems trashy and a bad actor. Bravo remove him and make the entire show about the guy who looks like my brother in law Ryan and Frederick please. Thanks.
  7. The Real Housewives of NYC
They need some new blood. Shout out to the Countess for getting arrested and going to rehab last year, but they need some younger cast members. Sonja is one of my least favorite housewives of all time. Yes, I have a list somewhere like that. Bethenny is climbing that that list too. You want proof money doesn’t make you happy, I give you Bethenny Frankel.
  8. Total Divas
This show is starting to feel too formulaic, like an episode of KUWTK. It needs to hover closer to real time. I watch WWE so this is right up my alley, but they need to change the cast a little. (So maybe I am the driving force behind “us” watching this show) I guess I want more Becky Lynch in my life. Can they just get rid of Lana? UGH. Not a fan of Lana on this show or on WWE. More Rusev though!
  9. Total Bellas
So is this show going to continue without John Cena? I don’t want to say he makes the show, but it needs to happen. They could always get Nikki another person to date? Weren’t they on Dancing with the Stars? How about another ABC show where a girl finds her true love?
  10. Shahs of Sunset
I enjoy this show too much. It feels very real. Reza is one of the best characters on TV today, reality or not. I legit root for them and watched the struggles of losing a parent and also the perils of infidelity. Enjoyable all around and the cast additions this year were excellent. If we are being honest, this show is way too low on this list.
  11. Below Deck
Captain Lee makes the show. I also miss when they had weird or cranky chefs. This last season was bizarre.

Shows That I hate

  1. KUWTK (Keeping up with the Kardashians.
I hate this show so much. It feels so fake. The show exists for them to pimp their brands.
  2. Flipping out
Didn’t they cancel this show like 8 times? They should. Jeff Lewis is an awful person. Jenny is the only person on it I actually like and root for. Never forget her first husband was the bad college guy from “How High.” What? You don’t know the Method Man and Red Man movie where they smoked the ashes of their smart friend and it made them smart so they could go to college? Anyone? It even had Mike Epps as a pimp who would put baby powder on his hand and slap people and yell “Come on with it!” Underrated early 2000’s comedy. (Unrelated, I used pimp in back-to-back responses about reality TV shows I hate.)
  3.  The Real Housewives of New Jersey
This show makes me sad now. One family ruined their lives to try and keep up the appearance of having money. What a shame.
  4. Southern Charm
None of the people on this show are good or deserve to have any fame. I need someone to root for in reality TV. This show does not have one-person worthy of my attention. The one character actually ran for Senator against Lindsey Graham and lost so bad they tried to spin it. That was funny. In fact we need more stars running for public office like the….wait forget I mentioned that.
  5. Summer House
Just awful. One person worth watching on this show and I can’t recall their name.
  6. Below Deck Mediterranean
If there is no Captain Lee, it sucks.
  7. Married to Medicine
Everyone is loosely in the medical field. I am loosely going directly to the iPad and League Pass.
  8. Southern Charm: Some other city
If I don’t like the first one, not going to like the new one. THIS IS NOT THE HOUSEWIVES SERIES. STOP DOING NEW CITIES. I honestly, don’t even know if my wife watches this show. I see commercials for it though.
  9. Real Housewives of Dallas
They all kind of look the same. Like the had the same procedures or something. Not fun.
  10. Don’t be Tardy
Is this show still happening? I know Kroy’s NFL career isn’t.

The big question is, what is on your list? What do you like/hate that your significant other watches? What did I miss? Any big omissions or additions I need to make? Let me know in the comments.

How I won a GPP on #DraftKings and #NFL Recap!

Hopefully, you are following Win the Weekend on Twitter and Instagram! We posted two NBA winner last night with the Warriors and a Warriors money line parlay with the over in the Pelicans game. Both came through very easily and we will look to keep it up tonight. Below I have updated the records of the computer, myself and the NBA selections we are posting. It was a nice weekend for football and I made money on both sites. This was despite none of my two Draft Kings Milly Maker lineups cashing. That would have been an added bonus, but I crushed cash games on DK. Thanks Jeff Driskel! His ridiculously low salary allowed me to play a lineup of:

Driskel 11.74
Gurley 34.5
Ware 12.2
Theilan 13.8
Godwin 24.10
Conley 11.5
Ebron 16.2
CMC 34.10
Seattle 16

Total 174.14

I mentioned on Sunday morning that I thought the Seahawks were a fantastic play. Nick Mullins on the road without his top two wide receivers. It was the perfect set up. I think I lost one head-to-head and won everything else I ran this in. I thought it was pretty simple to start with the three rb’s I had and build that way. I knew I would play a cheap Bucs WR and Godwin was my choice, due to his games without Jackson in the lineup. Despite my QB scoring 11.74, it worked out very well.

On Fan Duel I cashed in three out of four lineups I ran. The Cousins to Theilan stack is the only one that didn’t get there. I can’t complain as I was profitable.

I mentioned it on twitter, but I won my first NBA GPP in about 1.5 years. It was the $5 single entry on Draft Kings and was amazing! I almost won another one that night with the same lineup. (Finished 4/5.9K) The rule is always run your lineups in more than one GPP. If you are right and make a top 1% lineup you want to be right in a few spots not one. It is so hard to make a lineup that scores that highly that you need to maximize when you have one. This is primarily why GPP’s are so hard. It costs more money and in large portion of the time you will lose. I need to thank Tim Frazier, Ryan Arcidiacono and James Harden. The first two were extremely low owned and are the primary reason I won. Frazier was announced as the starter just minutes before lock and was the stone minimum on DK. Chris Paul was out and when he is I hit the lock button on Harden. IMG_0620

That was nice and certainly boosted the bankroll, but it is on to tonight! What a strange slate. The best game features a team without their two top scorers. I will basically be jamming in as many Kings and Suns as I can. I suggest you do the same!

What are your Kids Watching? #DadLife

With the Thanksgiving break over there was a lot of travel time and movie watching for my children. As parents it is our job to show our kids movies we enjoyed from our childhood. Some more kid appropriate than others. I am always up for pushing the envelope a little and showing my kids things slightly early, much to my wife’s chagrin. So what if our son says Speed is his favorite movie? Have you seen Speed? It’s amazing! It really launched two major movie careers! It has a fast bus, bombs, trains and the immortal line of “well I’m taller,” after Keanu knocks Dennis Hoppers head off while riding on top of the subway.

As a child I was exposed to movies and shows a little early and I enjoyed that time with my parents. I mean what ten-year-old says that Law and Order is his favorite show? In 1992, this guy did. This was of course after Quantum Leap ended. Why have they not rebooted this show? Nostalgia is a hit and have the leaper travel from 1980-2012 or something.

Anyway, I showed my son the last 20 minutes of the movie Predator. Yes, the original with ARNOLD. He loved it when he tried to trap the alien and then dropped a log on his head. Yes, I had to explain the mud masking his body heat, but he picked it up pretty quickly. Today I feel we are afraid to show our kids shows too soon, as we are protecting them. Meanwhile, as children we had access to a lot less content and somehow were exposed to more. I assume most of you reading this post watched Spaceballs, which has some language and sexual references. Better yet, I am guessing most of you love Back to the Future. You know the movie where a teen spied on a naked girl, gets hit by a car and then has his mother try to sleep with him. Meanwhile, I am showing my son all the Terminator movies because they are exciting, fun and are what I watched as a kid. The violence in them is just about the same as most of the Marvel movies at this point.

With their being a lot of downtime during break I tried to show my kids a variety of things. My children apparently love Jumanji. No, not the new one. (They have seen it though) They love the old one with Robin Williams. We have watched it at least five times in the last few weeks. (They make a mass shooting joke in the movie, which seems insane now, but was played for laughs in the 90’s. No way this happens today)

I decided to show my kids a movie I fondly remember Flight of the Navigator. I asked some people on Facebook if they can recall it and a lot of people do. The movie is so strange and has many plot holes, but barely holds up. Quick synopsis: Kid goes missing in 1978, shows up in 1985 and has not aged at all. (MANIFEST BASICALLY RIPPED OFF THE PLOT OF THIS MOVIE) Government takes kid for testing, kid escapes and finds the space ship and eventually goes back in time to 1978 like nothing ever happened. Random side note about this movie: Sarah Jessica Parker plays a teenage food delivery person who works for NASA and brings the main character his food, but then she tells his parents what is really going on. It makes zero sense in every way. Man the 80’s were weird. (Not as weird as the movie The Wizard, which they should remake but have the main character play NINJA in the finals not some random California guy named Lucas) My kids loved this movie. I think they love any movie in which the kid is the lead and has to do adult things. My son also loves The Parent Trap. Yes, the one with Lindsay Lohan.

Despite some new movies being interjected into the week, there are two things that stand out as the favorites in our house as of this moment.

  1. An Elf’s story: The Elf on the Shelf.
Have you seen this or are you aware it exists? It is supposed to work with the Elf on a shelf I think. I’m really not sure. I know it’s only 23 minutes and I wish it was 120 minutes. MY kids love it. I know the main character elf is named Chippy. My children have watched this at least ten times in the last week. It just lives in the DVD player in our playroom. When I was putting away laundry on Monday I had to keep walking down and pushing play for it to restart.
  2. Sing
Full disclosure, I love this movie. The cast is amazing. The music is amazing. The story is kind of long, but fun. Every character develops in some way. The final twenty minutes are as good as any kid’s movie in terms of an enjoyable and a great ending. Our family watched this movie a ton when we were driving around looking for a new house to buy about two years ago, but it’s back! My daughter has watched this at least 50 times. She keeps watching the ending and I don’t blame her. I may or may not have the soundtrack on my phone. (Current albums on my phone: Sing soundtrack, Moana soundtrack, Watch the Throne Jay z and Kanye, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson Greatest Hits. I don’t care if you judge me. Kelly Clarkson is sensational and Since U Been Gone is maybe the best song of the 2000’s)

These two have captured my children’s attention until the barrage of Christmas movies and shows invade the television. My kids have already seen the new Grinch movie and I really want to take them to see Wreck it Ralph 2! Secretly, I want it to be Creed 2 instead. I mean he has already seen the first one a few times, so why not? I can’t wait to show my kids the Christmas classic Die Hard.

What are your kids currently watching? What movies from your childhood have you had your children watch recently?IMG_0605

What week is it?!?!

Trying to decorate for Christmas before the games start at one! My wife is amazing and knows that this is a priority to me. For this week….

NYG +4.5– Philly has had wr’s playing DB in practice.

PITT -3 (2 units)– This line is a joke. Steelers by 10.

3 team 10 point teaser (2 units at -130)

NYG +14.5

PITT +7

NE -2.5

In terms of dfs today I have four QB’s on my radar:

Eli

Mullins

LAMAR

LUCK.

I am making stacks on both sites with these guys! Sprinkle in some of the cheap backs like Breida, Mack, Adams and Chubb. Play some high priced backs like Conner and Barkley. Tyler Lockett is the best wr play on the main slate to me not named OBJ.

Good luck everyone!

#Dadlife #NBA #Bets

Take the kids ice skating. Come home and make some NBA wagers. I like three things tonight.

NO -8 – Knicks can’t score with the Pelicans.

MIA/CHIC over 213- short handed Miami will still fill it up on this awful Bulls team.

Bucks -1350 money line wager- Suns are the worst team in the west.

If you parlay them all together it pays about +285! Take them alone and then in a parlay!

Good luck everyone!

#THANKSGIVING #DADLIFE #WAGERS

Ah Thanksgiving. The day that was the best day of the year before having kids. Nothing sweeter than being in college or just out of college and having a full meal prepared for you while you laid around, watched football and drank all day. Of course it was very easy to mix in a nap when you were only responsible for you. Once you have kids the day changes. There is no sleeping in. There is no going out the night before. THERE IS NO NAP. The fun parts of the day remain: family, football and beverages. The day is just nowhere near as relaxing as it once was. I still love the day.

My Wagers (I Parlayed these together, see pic below!)
Chicago/Detroit Under 43.5 – Bears defense is good and the Lions struggle to score.

Wash +7 – This just feels a few points too high. Colt McCoy isn’t terrible. Feel free to throw that in my face in a few hours.

Atlanta +13 – This game scares me. Vegas is making this as high as they can as the Saints keep killing teams. I think Atlanta stays close.

Make sure you are following us on Instagram and twitter where I will post more wagers, updated bets and more #Dadlife stories.

Week 11 #DFS #Betting #Winners #DADLIFE

It feels almost insane to me that it is week 11. I think I say every week, but this NFL season is flying. The computer model is cruising along and hitting at a nice rate. I am cruising along and hitting at a nice rate. What a time for a legal sportsbook to open in Pennsylvania. I will be heading there soon to check it out, take picture and give a full review. A friend went yesterday and made some wager and gave me some information, while of course placing a bet for me.

The computer has three premium plays this week and is already off to a good start with Seattle -2.5 winning.

I realize some of these lines may have changed, but we use the same lines as the Hilton Super Contest, which come out on Wednesday night every week.

My Wagers
PHILLY +7
This is just too many points. The season is all but over if the Eagles lose today, so they should play well. Also, the Saints have to have a letdown at some point right? Right?

PITT -4.5
RIDE OR DIE TEAM. You can beat the Steelers by throwing downfield. For the second straight week a team that has zero weapons to do that is getting buzz to maybe beat them. Ben on the road at 1 PM is a thing, but the Steelers are angry at what the Jags did to them last year. Today, they end their season.

NYG -2.5
TAMPA BAY UP NORTH AND THEY ALL KNOW EVERYONE IS GETTING FIRED AT THE END OF THE YEAR. Giants seem to care and are slowly getting better.

LAC -7
They keep killing teams and no one is noticing. Denver can’t stop the run and the Chargers have two great backs.

In terms of DFS today I would say get as much exposure to Saints, Eagles, Titans, Colts as you can. The only real trap today might be the Panthers. I would not lay the four points there. That entire situation scares me.

Good Luck everyone!
